Supreme Wellness has been designed to help kids of all ages lead a healthier life. Whether your child needs to lose weight or simply needs a more balanced nutritious eating plan, our comprehensive programme will be able to assist.

According to the American National Centre for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, the incidence of childhood obesity has tripled in the last 30 years. Healthy eating should thus be inculcated at an early age, as eating habits (good and bad!) are persisted with during the later stages of life. Cultivating healthy eating patterns early in life is one of the most important and lasting gifts that any parent can give his/her child and this has been our rationale behind the development of our Supreme Wellness programme.

The truth is that most obese children have obese or overweight parents. Due to their busy schedules, many parents succumb to a routine of unhealthy eating and unfortunately pass on their bad habits to their children. Even though nutrition is taught at school and kids health is at the forefront these days, many parents still battle with the question of how to bring about healthy lifestyle changes without leaving the child with the impression of being on a lifelong diet. One of Supreme Wellness’s aims is exactly this – we want to teach you as the parent how to instil good eating habits from an early age so that your child will consider this as the norm.

With the help of registered dietician, Dr Christa North, Supreme Wellness has combined various aspects of healthy eating to steer you towards establishing a healthy lifestyle for your whole family. In this booklet we give you the essential facts about nutrition, some handy tips about establishing a healthy eating pattern for your child, and how to handle those tempting everyday situations that can jeopardise weight maintenance. We tell you about preservatives, additives and sweeteners, and expose the dangers of junk food.

We suggest how to make shopping a wonderful new experience for parent and child by reading labels together in the supermarket and choosing healthy products. We stress the importance of regular physical activity and even include some easy and fun exercises developed by our biokineticist! We propose some clever ways of sidestepping temptation when shopping or eating out. We go even further in trying to be practical and recommend (separately for boys and girls of different age groups and different levels of activity) the number of portions of food that should be taken daily while trying to lose weight, as well as while trying to maintain that ideal weight. We conclude this booklet with interesting menus and meal plans to inspire you in the kitchen and invite you to put our fun recipes to the test!

Remember that both the dietician and biokineticist are available should there be questions that you need to discuss with them or should you just need some general advice.

I trust that the whole family will enjoy this programme and believe that it will indeed help you as a parent to raise healthy kids!
